           PCL In-Service

The PCL In-service is held five times a year to assist the local leader in creating a living sign of a dynamic faith.  Focusing primarily on adults, these formation events aim not only to animate the spiritual life but also foster pragmatic skills for ministry.  Upon completion of all sessions, participants receive a Certificate of Ongoing Development and a Transcript Description summarizing the contents of the learning experience.

Southern Region

Region:  The area consists of the Albemarle, Charlotte, and Salisbury vicariates.  There are 27 parishes, missions, and a ministry center within its boundary.

Services:   The Southern Regional Coordinator serves by advocating for and by supporting the parish catechetical leader (PCL) and the parish faith formation processes and programs both existing and new.  By conducting yearly parish visits, the coordinator observes and assesses the faith formation activity in the parish.

The Southern Regional Coordinator also serves as a resource to the parishes.  Realizing that catechist formation is a priority in the catechetical ministry, Catechist Recognition Process (CRP) courses are offered at various geographical sites throughout the year.  This takes form in either an all-day weekend workshop or an evening during a weekday.

The Southern Regional Coordinator helps the PCL to implement diocesan policies that pertain to catechetical ministry. In addition, in-service and spiritual development opportunities are provided.

 Hearts on Fire

Central Region

Region:  The territory includes 21 parishes and missions of the Boone, Hickory, and Gastonia vicariates in the Diocese of Charlotte.  The parishes of the Central Region are mostly under 500 households.

Services:   The Regional Coordinator serves the catechetical mission of the Church by providing  the necessary formation, support, and resources to every Parish Catechetical Leader (PCL).  She gathers the PCLs once a month in each vicariate thereby creating a forum of consultation and networking.  The former results in clarifying the PCL’s multiple responsibilities and the latter creates the mutual support of leaders in similar situations.
