All cases of alleged, known or suspected ministry related sexual abuse of a minor must be reported to the proper civil authority. Any person having actual knowledge of, or reasonable cause to suspect an incident of ministry related sexual abuse by any church personnel of the Diocese of Charlotte is to immediately report the incident to the Chancery, unless to do so would violate the Sacrament of Penance. The Chancery will then report the incident to the proper civil authority.

After notifying the proper civil authority, the Chancery will immediately notify the Assistance Coordinator, the Promoter of Justice, and the Review Board. Following this, the individual reporting the incident to the Chancery will be notified of the particulars regarding the filing of the incident with civil authority. This reporting requirement is not intended to supersede the right of a victim or witness to individually make a report to public authorities, but is to ensure proper, complete and timely reporting to the proper civil authority. At the time of reporting, the diocese will request to be kept informed as to the progress of that authority’s investigation.  Should an individual choose to make a report to civil authorities, the requirement to make a report to the Chancery is not removed.

At the time of reporting an incident alleged sexual misconduct to the Chancery, the person making the  report will be asked to complete the diocesan form, Report of Suspected Ministry Related Sexual Misconduct by Church Personnel.

Todos los casos alegados, sabidos o sospechosos relacionados con el ministerio de abuso sexual a un menor debe der reportado a las autoridades civiles apropiadas.  Alguna persona que tiene conocimiente actual o una causa razonable para sospechar de un incidente con el ministerio relacionado con abuso sexual por alguna persona empleada par la Archdiocesis  de Charlotte debe immediatamente reportar el incidente a  la Cancilleria, a menos que esa persona vaya a violar el Sacramento de Penitencia.  La Cancilleria entonces reportara el incidente a las autoridades civiled apropiadas.

Despues de notificar a las authoridades Civiles, la Cancilleria notificara immediatamente al Coordinandor Assistente, el Promotor de Justicia y la Junta de Consejo de Examen.  Siguendo, la persona que reporta el incidente a la Cancilleria debera notificar todos los hechos particulares tocante al reporte del incidente a las autoridades civiles.  Los requerimientos de este reporte no intentan suplantar el derecho de la victima o de el testigo que hace el reporte a las autoridades publicas, pero es para aseguar el apropiado, completo y oportuno reportaje, la Archdiocesis pedira ser informada del progreso de las investegacion por las autoridades.  Si una persona decide hacer un reporte a las autoridades civiles, los requierimientos para hacer un reporte a la Cancilleria no deber ser removidos.

Al momento de reportar el insidente alegando inapropiada conducta sexual a la Cancilleria, la persona que hace el reporte sera pedida a llenar la forma de la Cancilleria – Ministerio Reporte de Sospesha de inapropiada de Conducto Sexual por un empleado de la Iglesia, Reporte de sospecha de inapropiada conducto sexual por un empleado de la Diocesis durante las horas de trabajo en la Diocesis de Charlotte.
