Want to know more about Sisters today?

Contrary to popular opinion, we don't all look alike!

Who are we? Why are we different?

We're Sisters and in many ways we're not as different as you might think. We can be young, middle-aged, or seniors; enthusiastic or stubborn; fun-loving or reserved; thin, or well, not thin; incredible singers or dancers, or neither; athletic or studious, or both. We come from many different countries and ethnic backgrounds. And although some of us are teachers and nurses; others are doctors, CEOs, artists, lobbyists, musicians, authors, counselors, ship captains, physical therapists, lawyers and television program hosts.

Our professions don't distinguish us — our vows as women religious do. Most of us take public vows of poverty, chastity and obedience; while some Sisters take an additional vow, the vow of service. We've made a conscious decision to give ourselves totally to the service of others — in caring for the sick, the uneducated, the poor, the homeless, the imprisoned, the immigrant, those with AIDS and many others in need of assistance. Sure, we sacrifice, but the gospel truth is that the rewards of our labors come back to us one hundred-fold.

Do we have any other distinguishing characteristics? Sure. We didn't make the decision to become Sisters or nuns as a second choice. It is our first choice!

We think we have excellent reasons to invest our time working on behalf of others. Considering a change? Have you put your "calling" on "hold"? Why not find out what is so satisfying about being a woman religious? Call us or visit our websites to find out more about who we are and what we do!
