Young Adult Ministry
“Young adulthood refers to people in their late teens, twenties, and thirties (18-39); single, married, divorced, widowed; and with or without children. They are present in every trade and profession. They live in the many communities that make up our society—from rural areas to small towns to large metropolitan areas. They come from diverse cultural, ethnic, educational, vocational, social, political, and spiritual realities.”1
“Young adult ministry is the Church’s response to the needs of young adults. The Church invites them to share their gifts with the larger community, and challenges them to live Gospel values in the world. On a diocesan, parish, or on-to-one level, young adult ministers encourage young adults to live faithful lives, build community within an intergenerational Church, and serve in the world. Ministers collaborate with young adults to awaken and foster their baptismal call to discipleship. Through interconnected social, service, spiritual or educational ministries, a process is begun empowering young adults to own the ministry. Rather than offering fixed programs, the process changes and evolves as young adults develop the ministry. The talents that young adults discover in themselves are to be encouraged and directed toward the building of the Reign of God.”2
“We want you to know that you are not alone and that we will continue our efforts to listen to your concerns and speak on your behalf, offering you a hope rooted in the embrace of Jesus Christ.
“During your life journey, continue to hope and to dream. We want to support you in every way we can, even as we acknowledge that this support has not always been present.”
-from the Catholic Bishops of the United States

Retreats
A retreat is a weekend-long experience where people come together to pray, share, learn, and have fun. Often times, music plays a key role in the atmosphere of the retreat weekend. Much of the time during the retreat is spent in large and small group community building activities such as talks, group discussions, faith sharing, and personal time for reflection. Free time is usually included, as well. Small groups provide a chance to get to know others, express yourself, and share your faith with others. On a Catholic retreat, Reconciliation and Mass are often celebrated.

Theology on Tap“Theology on Tap is a program for young adults, college age through the thirties, married and single. It is a weekly opportunity for a parish or diocese to gather young adults for a speaker, conversation, and theology. “Theology on Tap is an opportunity to present these young adults with Catholic religious tradition…and a wonderful opportunity to make those younger parishioners feel welcome and at home by their Church.” For more information, visit: www.charlottetot.org View the flyer for the next series to be held in Greensboro
