Bishops Issue Call to Action Over Abortion Funding Plan
Bishop Peter J. Jugis of Charlotte and Bishop Michael F. Burbidge of the Diocese of Raleigh have issued a joint statement through Catholic Voice North Carolina criticizing the UNC health care plan that requires pro-life students to underwrite abortions.

Catholics everywhere are marking the 100th birthday of Mother Teresa this month. A Mass in her honor was held  Aug. 26 at St. Patrick Cathedral in Charlotte. Bishop Peter J. Jugis was the main celebrant and Bishop Emeritus William G. Curlin, pictured above in a 1995 photo with Mother Teresa in Charlotte, was the homilist.
